Sweet Raisin Strata


  • 10 slices white bread, divided
  • 8-ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar, divided
  • 4 eggs, divided
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
  • 1 cup Sun-Maid Natural Raisins
  • 1 cup milk
  • nutmeg
  • Directions:

    BUTTER an 8-inch square pan.
    REMOVE crusts from bread.
    PLACE half of bread slices in buttered pan, fitting tightly.
    COMBINE cream cheese, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla; blend well.
    STIR in raisins.
    SPREAD cream mixture over bread slices in pan.
    TOP with remaining bread slices, fitting tightly.
    COMBINE remaining 3 eggs, remaining 1/3 cup sugar, remaining 1 teaspoon vanilla and milk; blend well.
    POUR egg mixture over bread slices; sprinkle with nutmeg.
    LET stand at least 30 minutes or cover and refrigerate overnight.
    To bake, HEAT oven to 350° F.
    COVER strata and bake for 30 minutes.
    UNCOVER; bake an additional 20 minutes or until puffed.
    SERVE warm.

    Makes 9 servings.
