South of the Border Salad

A main dish salad fit for a fiesta. Ole’!


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper
  • 8-ounce can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup Sun-Maid Natural Raisins
  • 1 head iceburg lettuce, torn in pieces and chilled
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • Tortilla chips
  • Directions:

    In a skillet,
    BROWN meat, onion and garlic; drain.
    STIR in chili powder; add salt and pepper to taste.
    STIR in tomato sauce and raisins.
    SIMMER 5 minutes; cool slightly.
    PLACE lettuce in serving dish and top with meat mixture, cheese and tomato.
    GARNISH edge of dish with tortilla chips and serve.

    Makes 4 to 6 servings.
